Hey you!!

I feel bad right now, because I didn't make it to the Yyteri Spa, to the beach and to the ice hockey match :// Yesterday morning I had fever, but I still decided to go to school with the power of pain killers.. We worked 8,5 hours and when I came to home my fever just rised and rised. Before midnight it was 39.2 degrees. It was awfull and a bit scary to be alone at home.

Group working on Monday:
If I'm honest, group working has never been this difficult than it's now.  I don't know is it because of the cultural differencies or just differencies in our personalities. In my opinion we sat there 7 hours "doing nothing, deciding nothing, getting nothing ready". I'm happy in the last one and half hour we managed to do and decide something. It's still difficult to gratify every group member, there is always disagreement.

I'm not sure, is this just because we are at the MINE or because of the cultural differencies, but it's interesting to notice that when we decide to start at 9.30, we are starting something like 10.15 and when we decide to do group work at 6pm, we are getting together like 6.30. I'm just not used to it:)
Another difference I have noticed, is that when we are doing group work in Finland, we are sitting there that long we have to and we are doing the work "till the end as quicky we can". But here I have noticed that someone can just leave the group without saying anything and come back when it's fine for him/her. And after that, someone else is leaving group, or better: at the same time three group members are somewhere no one knows where and why. I don't know if you understand me:) It's interesting to notice that! It's also a bit frustrating.

I hope I can come tomorrow!! Time is running so quickly :( Soon it's already Friday!! :(
See you!! xx

Blogging with a fever!

FRIDAY
On Friday we started group working. My sister asked me: " Oh you are working there too?! What are you doing then??" Ha. So, our job is to make a digital story ("movie"), and our theme is differing roles of nurses, how autonomous they are, who makes the decissions, who regulates nurses and are they truly considered as professionals. On next Friday when MINE ends, we have a student led conference and the digital story is going to be showed there.
I think group working is hard enough in Finnish, so it's a bit difficult sometimes communicate in English. But group working is very rewarding! I'm learning all the time new things from the other cultures. We were talking about what can a nurse do in different countries, and we found out that after you have finished your nursing school, nurse can take blood only in Italy and Finland!! I was SO surprised!!!
In the evening I relaxed and decided not to go out tonight.

SATURDAY; PARTY TIME!!!
In the evening we spent time at the hostel, talking and listening to music. After that we went to the bar Soma, and we had more than fun!!:)))) Thanks all for the night!!

SUNDAY
I felt little bit weird all day and in the evening I found out why; I have a fever! Just when it's the world's worst time for it! Well we were still doing some group working and now it's getting clearer for me what we were asked to do. Mayde we will survive:)

Bloggingblogging...!

We have been so busy that I have had no time to write the blog. BUT today, we finished at 18, so now I have time to write!

TUESDAY
One task was to create a video, where we were supposed to present our country, city and us. On Tuesday we saw 6 countries´s videos, and they were great! We learnt some things from the other cultures, schools and the hospitals. After that, we had "international food market", where all countries brought some traditional food and drink, which were tasted by the others. I was so proud that I had enough courage to taste different foods and drinks. I learnt a lot from other countries food and their habits. In the evening we went to one bar, and had so much fun, we have amazing group!!!

You can watch our video here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3xgPqZBewg&feature=share

WEDNESDAY
This day, I learnt a lot of different things. I lernt a lot from the other countries´s school and mentoring system. The practicing and almost all the school system is different abroad. For example Italians have to study chemistry for nursing. I learnt also something from the wageses and taxes. Some (I don't remember the country, if been honest, please let me know...) are having 3000e/month, when in Finland we have like 2000e BUT they have to pay 46% taxes! Unbelievable! Another thing that chocked me was that to study nursing in the UK costs like 12 000e year!!! And in Finland it's free! WOW! Then we learnt about different learning theories, which were familiar to me, but connectivism was totally new for me.

In the evening we went by bus to the Kankaanpää to Pettu-Eerikin hovi for a Traditional Finnish Evening and it was great! When we came back, we continued to the bar, where we had very interesting discussions!

THURSDAY, TODAY AT MERIKARVIA, AWESOME!
This day was relaxing, unforgettable and just fantastic day! We went to Merikarvia by bus (it took almost one hour to get there..) and there we had to cottages for us. We playd with snow, made "snowangels", did ice-swiming, rolled on the snow just wearing bikinis, we went to sauna, we grilled sausages and marshmallows, eated, enjoyed.... We had so much fun!!

It was so nice to hear that so many of you love Finland and would like to come back someday!:)))
I think I should get some rest for tomorrow, because I think it's going to be hard working.....
See you!:)<3

FIRST DAY!

First day of the MINE is over now.. AND it was fantastic day! Absolutely the nicest thing was to meet and get to know people from other countries. I was little bit nervous about my English when the day started, and it was first pretty difficult to open my mouth! I think my English skills is going to develop, because even at the end of  the first day, it was much easier to communicate in English.

We had a hospital tour in the central hospital of Pori. We visited intensive care unit, medical ward and accident and emergency department (Did I forget something?). Intensive care unit was the most interesting place, and I hope I'll be there sometimes working/practicing. Also the casualty was very interesting!

At the end of the day we had "names and games", so we get to know each others more. We had for example one task: in groups we had to decide one song, which we all knew. Then we had to change the lyrics. Our performance was quite poor, but it was more than fun... :D

Feelings just before the MINE starts!

Tomorrow Monday has been on my mind the WHOLE year!:) Finally MINE-IP (Mentoring in Nursing in Europe) starts! I'm so excited and also a bit nervous what's going to happen and so on! I'm looking forward to see all the people from five different countries! I'm sad because I'm not able to meet people at the airport today :( But we will see each others tomorrow morning!

Welcome to Finland!
